Cultures

UNIVERSE GRAND QUEEN®

Culture is defined as the "set of knowledge and ways of life and customs that occur in a town or in an era." Although we acquire a lot of cultural values through direct teaching, we also assimilate many others without realizing it.
From the moment a person is born, the customs in which he is immersed begin to mold his experience and behavior. When he begins to speak, he is already a product of his culture, and when he has grown and participates in his society, the customs of his culture are already his customs; her beliefs, her beliefs, and her impediments, her impediments. ”
Culture makes life more bearable in many ways. Being children, we quickly learned to please our parents. Knowing what is acceptable in society and what is not, helps us decide how to act, what to wear and how to interact with others.

In all cultures there are different personalities. Our way of being is also determined by genetic inheritance, life experiences and a host of other factors. But our culture is the lens through which we look at the world.
Culture determines our language and the way we speak it. In some regions, people appreciate the ability to express themselves fluently using extensive vocabulary, repetition and metaphors. By contrast, in some countries verbal communication is kept to a minimum.
Culture tells us how to see time. In some countries, the person who arrives ten minutes late for an appointment is expected to apologize, but in other countries someone might arrive an hour or two late and no one would expect him to present his excuses.
Culture also instills values. Various values Think about how you would feel if someone told you: “Hey, you are gaining a lot of weight. You really are getting fat. ” A person who grows up in a culture where fat is held in high esteem might be flattered; but if he had grown up in a culture where slenderness is more appreciated, such a direct comment would surely bother him.

What often hinders communication between peoples of different cultures is the general tendency to assume that one's culture is the best. Most of us think that our beliefs, values, traditions, way of dressing and concepts about beauty are correct, appropriate and superior to those of others. We are also inclined to measure other cultures with the parameters of ours.

In general, the people with whom we become friends are very similar to us, individuals who share our attitude and our values. We trust them, we understand them and we feel comfortable in their company. If we consider someone's behavior strange or abnormal, our friends are likely to agree with us, as they share our aversions.

So, what do we gain by communicating and interacting with people who differ from us because of their cultural backgrounds? First, it will allow us to understand the reasons why they think and act as they do. Then, understanding cultural background would greatly help overcome social prejudices.

When we deal with people from other cultures, we not only come to understand others, but to get to know ourselves better. When we come into contact with different cultures we become aware of the cultural atmosphere in which we live. The writer Thomas Abercrombie expressed this truth by saying: "Whoever never lets himself be seduced by a foreign culture, can never see the chains of his own."

At UNIVERSE GRAND QUEEN® we believe that understanding other cultures enriches our life by extending our criteria to the extent that we better understand others and ourselves. Although cultural legacy and ethnocentrist thinking constitute barriers that obstruct good communication, they do not have to be in our case. We can tear down those barriers.

That is why the candidates display great understanding and tolerance with customs of different cultures. It is desired that the representatives not only disseminate their own culture but that they know and learn good lessons from others. The one that wins UNIVERSE GRAND QUEEN® will also have to alternate and promote diverse cultures at all times.

We hope that soon we can all enjoy the friendship and love of people from every tribe and language and people and nation on earth.
